Sadly, people tend to see dentures in a negative light. This is partially because dentures have two unfortunate reputations—that they are only for the elderly and that they look terrible. While these reputations may have been merited once, they aren’t now. Fortunately, in recent years dentures have become more comfortable and look more natural than they have in the past. In fact, did you know that dentures were used nearly 2,000 years ago? Naturally they’ve improved.

Today, dentures are made from high quality materials, including fiberglass, acrylic, and metal—though they are often made of a combination of these ingredients. These dental appliances can be extremely useful since they let individuals with missing teeth speak clearly and chew properly. Furthermore, they can even prevent wrinkle lines.

Still, when you think of dentures, do you think of your grandparents? In reality, dentures can benefit anyone who is missing teeth. In fact, y our dentist could recommend a partial denture (if you’re only missing one tooth) or a complete denture to replace all the teeth in a jawline. In fact, rather than worrying about whether or not you’re too young for dentures, we recommend comparing their benefits to other potential restorations.

Aside from helping you speak and eat clearly, dentures can preserve our remaining teeth. Similarly, these useful appliances will stop your teeth from shifting and support the sides of your mouth, preventing wrinkles. Finally, of all dental restorations, dentures are the most cost effective.
